The Amalgamatron Jr. A circuit bent Casio MT-240 and a circuit bent Leap Frog Fridge DJ conjoined…
The 42 LED display on the Fridge DJ has a light sensor box over it which places a sensor over each LED. When an LED is lit, the sensor plays a corresponding key on the keyboard, similar to a player piano roll. An LED display from another Fridge DJ was removed and attached to the keyboard and wired to the other one so that you can see what the display is doing under the sensor box.
Construction of the light sensor box – it is made of black acrylic (laser cut), 42 photoresistors and a female DB15 connector. Video demo of the Amalgamatron Jr. below:
Circuit bent Siamese twins! A conjoined Leap Frog Fridge DJ and Casio MT-240. There are 42 LEDs on the Fridge DJ. I took the same display from another unit and connected it to the one on the toy so there are 2 displays. The black box that I attach at 1:15 has 42 photoresistors that line up with the LEDs, so when its LED lights, it plays a note on the keyboard. I installed the 2nd LED display so you can see what it’s doing when the 1st one is covered.
